Manila, Philippines – National University clashes with dangerous University of Santo Tomas, hoping to close in on unbeaten De La Salle, while Ateneo and luckless University of the East collide in UAAP Season 76 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
The Bulldogs are gunning for a second straight victory, but coach Odjie Mamon expects the Tigresses to give them a good fight in the 4 p.m. duel in the final match day before the Holiday break.
Seeking a third consecutive win, the Lady Eagles hope that skipper Alyssa Valdez is 100 percent shape when they face the Lady Warriors in the curtain raiser at 2 p.m.
NU holds a 3-1 card in second place, while Ateneo and UST are in joint third at 2-1. The four-peat seeking Lady Spikers continue to dominate, having won all their four matches in straight sets.
Men’s action pits Far Eastern University against UE at 8:30 a.m. and De La Salle against UST at 10 a.m.
With Dindin and Jaja Santiago getting into the groove of things, the Lady Bulldogs are very tough to beat. The towering Santiago sisters combined for 32 hits as NU waylaid FEU, 25-22, 25-19, 25-19, last Sunday.
Dindin, who won a championship for the Tigresses in her rookie season in 2009 before transferring to the Lady Bulldogs, and Jaja Santiago should impose their will against the frontline of rookie Ria Meneses and Carmela Tunay.
“We want to enter the Christmas break with a good feeling,” said Mamon.
