2 pm — TMS vs PLDT-MyDSL
4 pm — RC Cola vs Cagayan
6 pm — Systema vs Maybank
The American imports of the vastly-improved PLDT- MyDSL will be tested today when they tackle reigning champion TMS-Philipine Army in the women’s division of the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix volleyball tournament today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Speed Boosters clash with the undefeated Lady Troopers at 2 p.m. while Cagayan Valley tries to bounce back from a sorry loss when it battles newcomer RC Cola at 4 p.m.
In the men’s play, win-less teams Systema and Maybank gun for their first victory when they tangle at 6 p.m. to complete the triple-header organized by SportsCore, recognized by the International Volleyball Federation with Asics, Mikasa, LGR, Jinling Sports as main backers and has Solar Sports as official broadcast partner.
After a listless campaign in the maiden invitational conference, PLDT-MyDSL overhauled its lineup and tapped former collegiate stars Charo Soriano, Sue Roces, Shermaine Penano along with grizzled veteran setter Rubie De Leon.
But its biggest recruitment gain was when it signed up Americans Kaylee Manns and Savannah Noyes — a pair of US NCAA Division I campaigners who have competed in the European volley circuit, including stints in Switzerland.
With Manns and Noyes at the helm, the Speed Boosters clobbered Cignal, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21, 25-14, in their debut, sending a strong message that the squad mentored by Roger Gorayeb is dead set on the crown.
