Singapore’s Zachary Wong of Agape Bowling Academy edged PBAP-Team Bowlmart-Storm’s Sheena Go in a tiebreak to win the Classified Division of the 16th PBAP-Bevida-Storm International Classic held over the weekend at the Pearl Bowling Center at Harrison Plaza.
The 15-year-old Zachary, mentored by David Wong, posted 40-38 win after four ninth and 10th frame roll offs due to four ties with Go. They earlier finished with 233 games.
Wong went home with P15,000 and a trophy.
Go, who settled for second place, advanced to the finals after winning over Nikko Go and Jocelyna Jonathan.
The first match was contested by Jocelyna Jonathan (243), Renz Taylo (202), and Carl Lim (167), with Jonathan prevailing to set arrange a duel with Go.
Wong posted a 1872 to top the eight-game finals and led the 24 bowlers into the playoffs.
Also advancing to the playoffs were Team Prima’s Nikko Go’s 1819, PBAP-Team Bowlmart-Storm’s Sheena Go (1752), Sarawak’s Jocelyna Jonathan (1732), Team Prima,s Renz Taylo (1730), and SJBA’s Carl Mathew Lim (1689).
PBAP-Team Bowlmart’s Marc Matias (1689), Sarawak’s Jakelyn Chuen (1675), Chinese Taipei’s Chen Tong Hui (1663) and Chien Hsiu Lan (1652), Team Prima-BTA’s Clarence Tiu (1639), and Brunei’s Iqbal Damit (1613) rounded up the top 12 finalists.
Meantime, Malaysian junior ace Qalif Adnor Adam rolled the second perfect game of the classic, also on lanes 7-8.
The Junior division was dominated by Malaysians with Muhd Syafiq Sajeli finishing with a 1869 series while Qalif Adnor posting a 1830.
Wong finished third with a 1806.
