The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has completed the citizenship documents of five Fil-Am track and field athletes who will shore up the Philippines chances in the 2013 Myanmar Southeast Asian Games in December.
PSC commissioner Jolly Gomez had just returned fromthe US where he met with Fil-Am tracksters Eric Cray (hurldes), twins Kayla and Kyla Richardson (relay), Princess Joy Griffey (sprint) and Jessica Barnard (steeplechase).
Fil-Australian Andrew Perry, who works as Gomez’s researcher and scout, said there are several other Fil-Ams being eyed to be recruited to beef up the national team but they are likely to join next year.
Cray’s best time of 50.74 seconds is tops in the Southeast Asian region in the 400-meter hurdles and he is expected to form the tip of the Philippines’ lance in Myanmar.
